1. AI Analysis of Multiple Processes: Challenges of Conventional Methods and AI Chain Analysis
It has been common practice to analyze systems composed of multiple processes using a single AI model that integrates all of those processes. In such cases, even if there is a change in experimental conditions in just one of the processes, it becomes necessary to re-collect experimental data for the entire system. Moreover, because multiple processes are represented by a single AI model, it is difficult to understand the internal phenomena occurring within the system. (See Figure 1)
To address these challenges, Multi-Sigma® introduces an AI chain analysis system in which separate AI models are built for each individual process, and these models are then connected to form a single integrated AI model for analysis. This interconnected system of AI models enables prediction, factor analysis, and multi-objective optimization. (See Figure 2)

2. Advantages of Chain Analysis Using Multi-Sigma®
The concept of breaking down complex multi-step processes into smaller units and then combining them into a system is referred to as modularization in the case of mechanical products, and as unit processes or process integration in the semiconductor field. In the field of chemistry, it has been systematized as a distinct discipline called process systems engineering.
AI chain analysis feature in Multi-Sigma® helps teams collaborate across departments, streamline workflows, and ultimately maximize profits. For example, departments such as market research, design, development, sales, and marketing can each be represented as individual AI models. These models can then be connected to form a comprehensive AI system that encompasses the entire operational flow. (See Figure 3)

It is also possible to perform cross-organizational analysis. For example, if a series of business activities is carried out by a parts manufacturing company, a processing company, a heat treatment company, an assembly company, and an export company, the AI chain analysis feature can provide appropriate analysis for each of these companies. This enables the creation of new business opportunities and promotes more effective collaboration between companies than ever before. (See Figure 4)
